ASC X9 Releases a Comprehensive Program of Work
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – April 26, 2021
The Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc. (X9) has released a new document that provides details on all X9 work. This includes the domestic and international standards that X9 is developing or maintaining as an American National Standard, or is contributing to as the United States representative on ISO Technical Committees. The document, X9’s Program of Work, further includes details on each X9 group and our liaisons with other organizations. The document can be downloaded from the X9 website.
ASC X9 is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop and maintain United States standards for the financial services industry. X9 has 128 standards that are either under development or being maintained by X9 as American National Standards. In addition to these, X9 works with ISO on another 103 international standards. X9 supports the international standards by representing the United States on three different ISO Technical Committees. X9 is authorized by ANSI to maintain the U.S. Technical Advisor Groups (TAGs) for ISO TC68, TC321 and TC322.
The X9 Program of Work document lists all the standards that X9 either directly maintains as an American National Standard or maintains through ISO as an international standard. It also provides background information for each X9 subcommittee, work group, study group and industry forum. Included in the document is information about other organizations that X9 has a formal relationship with.
“This document provides a view of all the standards activity performed by X9 and will aid both members and potential new members in understanding the work of X9 and which activities they want to participate in,” said Steve Stevens, executive director of X9. “This single document provides a comprehensive view of all the standards related work of X9.”
