Quantum computing is poised to have a major impact on the financial services industry in this decade. While broad commercial applications may remain several years away, for some specific applications in finance, quantum computers are expected to start delivering better results in the next few years. In this talk IBM will present their point of view regarding the state-of-the-art and the prospects of quantum computing for applications within financial services. IBM will introduce fundamentals of quantum computing and provide an overview of the most promising areas where we expect quantum computers to provide near-term and long-term benefits, such as those involving simulation, optimization, and machine learning problems. IBM will then discuss the roadmap of the quantum ecosystem as well as the challenges in building the fault-tolerant quantum computers. Towards the end of the presentation, IBM will demonstrate how one can leverage IBM Quantum lab to run simple quantum circuits on IBM Quantum backends.
