Posted by Ambria Frazier
IBM is building the worlds first universal quantum computer “IBM Q” for business and science offering free access to everyone to a real quantum computer via their cloud platform. There are a lot of myths regarding what quantum computing technology will provide and also a fear of negative impacts it could have on security and safety. While quantum computing is totally different from classical computing regarding technology and programming, there is a need for a new set of skills and people to run and integrate quantum technology within traditional IT infrastructure. The presentation will show the current state of technology regarding quantum technology and IBM Q including programming models and use case scenarios especially in regards to chemical environments or optimization problem arena.
The seminar will also touch on the topic of how quantum technology will be integrated into classical IT infrastructures and how this will change the world of computing in the future. Ingolf Wittmann, technical director & leader of high-performance computing IBM Europe, will be leading the presentation.
