Release of X9.119 Protection of Sensitive Payment Card Data – Part 2: Tokenization

Posted by Ambria Frazier

X9.119 Protection of Sensitive Payment Card Data – Part 2: Tokenization is a new ANSI X9 standard that defines the minimum security requirements for implementing tokenization with post-authorization systems to protect sensitive payment card data.  Here is a quote from the editor, Steve Schmalz (RSA):

“X9.119-2 is a valuable new addition to the existing body of tokenization standards. This effort involved input from across the financial industry and security community at large and provides a true synthesis of competing views on tokenization and its implementation. I am proud to say that I have been a part of this effort and would like to thank all the talented and dedicated security professionals that helped make this standard possible.“

This standard is part of a broader X9.119 Protection of Sensitive Payment Card Data standard:

Both standards are available at the X9 area of the ANSI Standards Webstore.
